There are two separate stories in Mr. Driller G. You uncover one story in Mission Driller, and another story in Scenario Driller.

• Mission Driller Story: Once again, blocks are overflowing from underground, and the Drillers have to find the King and stop the Undergrounders from making more blocks. You can see different dialog depending on which character you play.
• Scenario Driller Story: While the Drillers are enjoying a peaceful time, blocks start to burst from the ground in different places all over the world! But this time, it's not the Undergrounder's fault. A mysterious trio called the Ankoku Drillers appear to be behind the outbreaks. These three Drillers are lead by the evil Dr. Manhole, who plans to destroy the world. But why are they making the blocks overflow? Can our heroes solve the mystery in time and save the world?

Mission Driller: Standard drilling with a story that you see as you beat the various stages. Here you can choose to play as any of the main 6 Drillers, plus Rabbit (Unlockable).

• Normal Stages: 500m(1500ft) India Stage, 1000m(5000ft) America Stage, 2000m(10000ft) Egypt Stage, and unlockable 2000m(10000ft) South Pole Stage.
• Outer space stage: Endless stage. Try to drill as far as you can to beat your high score. This stage also has "? Items" that you collect to receive a random item effect. These will either help you or hinder you while drilling.
  • Plus Items: Slow (Will make blocks fall slower), Full Air (Fills your air gauge to 100%), Max Up (Increases your air gauge maximum air by 5%), Erase (Destroys all the blocks in the field), Boots (Makes your character move faster), Barrier (Gives you a shield that will let you survive being crushed once).
  • Minus Items: White (Turns some of the blocks into White Blocks), X-Block (Turns some of the blocks into X-Blocks), Half Air (Reduces your air by half), Crystal (Turns some of the blocks into Crystal Blocks), Turn (Turns the field 90 degrees), Flip (Flips the field upside-down).

Mission Driller Screenshots:

Time Attack: 9 stages (A-I). You play through them one after another, with it set up so you play only 5 of them at a time, but choosing different paths that connect the levels on the menu (Such as A->B->D->G->I or A->C->E->H->I).

Scenario Driller: Dristone drilling, Driller Races, and a final boss stage, with a story that you see as you beat the stages. In this mode, you go through the story by going to different locations, and playing the Dristone course and Driller Race courses that go along with the scenarios.

• Dristone Stages: These are the main type of level you play in Scenario Driller. The goal is either to reach the bottom of the stage, or collect a special treasure that you also find at the bottom.
• Driller Race Stages: These are the other main type of level in Scenario Driller. Here the goal is to beat the CPU player in a race to the bottom of the stage. First one to the Goal wins.
• Final Stage: This stage is different from other stages, the goal here is to catch up to a giant drill that is moving down through the stage. You have to drill quickly to catch up to it so you can shut it down.

2 player Driller: Compete against a friend in 2 different types of challenges.

• Driller Race: A race to the finish, first to reach the Goal wins.
• Driller Survival: The player who lasts the longest with 3 lives is the winner. You can use items to hinder the opponent by affecting their side of the stage.
